I’m excited to finally share, Baby Gibson is coming this fall! I was nervous being overseas at the beginning, but we made it home with our tiny blessing. Here’s a look at a photo session at Angkor Wat that turned into our pregnancy announcement! It was an exciting but also stressful time to learn about the pregnancy while in a different country.

I booked a photo session through Localgrapher a couple of months before the trip. I’ve found it hard to get pictures of us together while traveling and wanted some professional pictures to display around the house. Visiting Angkor Wat was a once in a lifetime experience for us, so what better destination to pick for some souvenir photos.

Things took an interesting turn when I had some pregnancy symptoms in the days before we left. I noticed an enhanced sense of smell and started having bouts of feeling cold. It was too early to test, so I packed pregnancy tests in my suitcase and avoided drinking anything with alcohol. Reed and I have been looking forward to growing our family, but I wasn’t sure if this was it. I took my tests in the hotel room and every one of them was positive!

In the days where I had symptoms, I quickly ordered a letter board in hopes that I would get a positive test. I was thinking, what kind of crazy lady would be so hopeful as to purchase a sign before confirming anything? It would be amazing if our photo session could be used for an announcement!

I was only about 5 weeks along when we took pictures. I definitely felt nervous about something going wrong with being so early into the pregnancy. I figured no matter what happened, I still wanted pictures to remember our excitement. Reed and I didn’t share the pictures with anyone until I was past the 13-week mark. I honestly felt nervous all of the first trimester, but after 2 doctor’s appointments, I was ready to share our news.

As I write this, I am well into my second trimester and getting the nursery ready for Baby G! We can’t wait to meet our little baby in just a few months! Our travels will change, but I hope our baby will get to visit some wonderful places with us in the coming years. I also hope to not have to pack pregnancy tests on a trip again, haha! It was so cool to find out abroad but I worried about everything.

Be on the lookout for posts about traveling in Thailand, Cambodia, and Japan. Our travels took place right before most flights were canceled due to COVID 19. It looks like we won’t be going anywhere international for a while, but we are so happy to take a break from traveling while we prepare for our baby!
