We went to check on the house and expected to see completed drywall with texture. What we found were cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms! The builder had informed us that they would know our closing date once cabinets were installed, so I was thinking this may happen in late June along with the rest of the finishes. We contacted the builder right away to get our closing date.

We knew that we would not be going with the builder for our loan, but our contract requires us to inform the builder of this at least 45 days before closing. Reed quickly contacted our lender to get things squared away. The builder got back to us this week with July 31st as our closing. That’s a full two weeks ahead of schedule!

The house now has exterior paint! Over the past week, hardwood floors were installed through the first floor and tile was put in the bathrooms. The floors are covered in cardboard right now but were able to see a little of the exposed wood and it looks great!

Moving up closing is great news for us! Our lease is set to end on July 25th, and if closing were to happen as originally planned, we would have to live in a hotel for nearly 3 weeks. I feel very lucky with how the dates have worked out for us! It’s time to start packing.

I’ll share more updates as the house gets completed. The picture in the headline includes samples of finishes that are planned to go in the house. I’m looking forward to seeing the countertops!
