House Update: First Delay
What was once looking like a snow-covered mess last month is now looking like a basement! I’m excited to see the progress on the lot and can’t wait to see more. We found out that every lot on our side of the street has sold, and that our neighbors on both sides are building ranch plans.
We’ve received several updates on the progress of our house since my last post. In February, we attended a meeting with the construction manager. The meeting involved me and Reed receiving a printout of our home to scale on the lot and learning about the orientation of our house! I learned that the front door will be on the left side with the driveway on the right. It’s definitely starting to feel real!
The meeting covered the progress the construction team plans to make and the points in the process where Reed and I will be involved. It sounds like we will be attending several meetings once we get close to completion. According to the construction schedule, the house should be ready mid-August. It seems quick to me, but it will be nice to move during the summer when we don’t have to worry about snow and ice.
In early March we received news of our first delay. With the recent snowfall, the foundation stage has been taking longer than planned. The delay didn’t really bother us since we are trying to save for the house. We were originally told that in early March the framing stage was expected to begin. I am now thinking this might happen later this month.
I’ll provide more updates as we move further along with building the house!
