Over a month has passed since my last update and the house is starting to look like a home! The framing has been completed and the roof was installed. The electrical and duct-work were put in and we have a front porch! The siding was also added, although the house will eventually be painted a different color. This video was taken mid-April.

We met with the construction manager at the beginning of May to do our pre-drywall walkthrough. This involved the manager identifying all of the outlets and locations of overhead lights in the house and checking to see that it all matched the contract. Once this step was completed, the construction team was ready to add drywall in the house.

Drywall started going in last week. Reed and I went to check the house on Sunday, and we were able to stand in rooms with walls and really get a feel for our new home. It was also nice to see insulation in the basement! It feels very open and bright in the basement area, and I think we are really going to enjoy the unfinished space for workouts and for extra storage!

It was quiet in the neighborhood at the beginning of this year, but now, there are new homes going up left and right. We have homes being built on either side of us and across the street. It’s fun to guess what they all might look like.

The builder is on track for having the home completed by mid-August. It’s all very exciting and it means that I need to get packing materials together. It looks like we will have a busy summer!
