I’ve been slacking on blogging, and I’m looking forward to getting back at it. I had to take a small break due to a busy schedule in July. Last month, Reed and I packed our entire rental house, moved things into both a Uhaul and a storage unit, lived in a hotel for 1 week, and closed on our new house!

New House

We attended our new homeowner walkthrough about 3 weeks before closing. This walkthrough was with the construction manager and we identified any final touch-ups needed on the house. We didn’t visit the house again until closing day. It felt surreal to arrive at the house with all of our things to move in. We closed at the Title Company office, picked up our mail keys, and moved in all in the same day. After watching our house be built on what was just a field, it felt wonderful to finally get out of a rental and into our home!

Here are a few pictures of the kitchen and living space. I plan to share more pictures after adding furniture and decorating.

During the Move

Reed did a tremendous job of organizing all the aspects of the move. We were incredibly busy and stressed about having to spend some time in a hotel with our dog and bunny all crammed together in a small space. We stayed temporarily in Longmont, CO and used our time to check out restaurants and jogging trails. I took Bear out on a hike near Estes Park and loved seeing all the wildflowers on the trail.

Grad School

Something else very exciting also happened in July. I accepted an offer to attend graduate school! A few months back, I found my dream program to pursue a Masters Degree in Supply Chain Management.  The program is offered through Rutgers and is designed for working professionals. The reason I call it my dream program is because I can complete courses online while I continue to work full time. I gained support from my company and am looking forward to starting my first course! I am excited to be a Rutgers Scarlet Knight!

One Year in Colorado

July marked our one year anniversary of moving to Colorado. When we moved, I didn’t have a job and we didn’t know where we would live. I interviewed at my current company and found the rental house within the first week while we were living in a hotel. Reed and I have lived enough of the hotel life! We are very fortunate for the growth and opportunities we have received over the past year and are looking forward to living the next years in our new house.

Hiking Mt. Elbert

Hiking Mount Elbert last fall. I’m looking forward to seeing fall colors which may start as early as next month!
