Georgetown Lake, Colorado
While driving into the mountains over the weekend, a detour brought us to Georgetown Lake. While we normally drive past this lake as we travel to ski towns or hiking trails, we couldn’t help but stop to view cars racing on the surface of the frozen lake. We let our dog out to run on the ice and snow, and the excursion turned out to be a great spot for a mini photoshoot!
Georgetown Lake is located to the side of I-70 about 1 hour west of Denver. The lake is accessible during all seasons. You can click here to learn about lake activities, like fishing and ice racing.
Just beyond the Lake, Historic Georgetown offers museums, restaurants, and shops. The Georgetown Loop Railroad is a fun family-friendly activity for those looking for things to do. I haven’t spent time in the town yet, but I’m definitely putting Georgetown on my list for weekend activities in Colorado.
