Will your travel plans require you to fly across the pond? I recently flew from Denver International to London Heathrow with British Airways. Continue reading for my review of flying with British Airways in Economy Class, (also called World Traveler) and learn about what you can expect for food, seats, and entertainment on your flight with BA.

British Airways Boeing 747-400

British Airways Boeing 747-400

My flight was on BA’s impressive Boeing 747-400 Jet. British Airways is the world’s largest operator of the Boeing 747, so it’s likely that you may fly on one for your long-haul trip. An interesting fact, the 747 is the world’s fastest commercial jetliner.

There are different seating layouts for the 747, which can be viewed on the BA website. Passengers can find the First Class cabin at the nose of the plane while the Business Class (called the Club World Class) has a section located on the main level just after First Class. Interestingly, Club World seats are also located on the top deck of the plane. BA also has an economy-plus section available, but this review only covers the regular World Traveler economy seats.

Entertainment

Although I flew on the same type of plane each way, I experienced differing levels of technology on each flight. My first flight had a screen setup that was more dated with a remote on the armrest for navigating through the menu. This plane did not have USB ports in the seat. For my flight back to the U.S., I had a touch screen and a USB port.

When I found my seat, I was greeted with a blanket, pillow, and headphones. I browsed the movies and was able to find several new releases to watch. The movies were ones that I would have had to pay to rent, so I was excited to get a chance to watch them on the plane.

I appreciate the feature on the screen where you can view your route. I’m always interested to know what countries we are flying over. When I wasn’t watching movies or playing games on my phone, I would take a look at the flight route.

The Seat

Seats on British Airways

I was impressed with how much my seat could recline. This is the third airline I’ve taken for a long-haul flight, with the other ones being Air Tahiti Nui and Lufthansa. The British Airways Economy seat was the best of them all when it came to legroom and seat comfort.

In-Flight Food

With the first round of drinks, I was offered pretzels. My flight from Denver took off in the evening, and it wasn’t too long before dinner was served. We were given the option of chicken or pasta and I selected the chicken.

I thought my dinner was pretty good! The chicken dish came with mashed potatoes and some roasted carrots and mushrooms. The meal included a side house salad and a french bread roll. I also received some crackers with a small cheese wedge. The dessert was a little pudding cup. The dinner came with complimentary red or white wine.

Favorite in-flight snack!

The meal was about the same on the way back with a different bread roll and salad. Each flight I was provided with some tasty snacks, which were a KitKat and a mini Magnum ice cream bar, yum! I had a generous flight attendant who was quick to provide me with as many alcoholic beverages as I needed, so I would say the service for food & drinks was great.

On the flight back, we were given a smoked salmon sandwich and a little muffin-like bar for a light lunch. The liquid milk was for your coffee or tea. I know we were served some type of breakfast on the flight to London, but both my husband and I slept right through breakfast.British Airways World Traveler Economy What to Expect

Thoughts on British Airways

I’m ready for my next BA flight! I like to try different airlines to review and compare flights, but British Airways was so easy and comfortable that I’m really ready to travel again with this airline. If you are trying to book economy tickets and fly on a budget, British Airways is a great airline to use for the comfort level in Economy Class for long flights.

Safe Travels

I ended up flying on British Airways when my husband found a great deal on Kayak for $400 round-trip to Amsterdam. We booked the flights through the Chase travel portal with our Chase points. If you are interested to learn more about finding cheap flights with the Kayak Explore Tool, you can check out this post.

I was very satisfied flying with British Airways and recommend using the airline if you have the opportunity. If you have tips and recommendations, please leave them in the comments below. My goal is to provide honest information about my experiences and I would love to hear your opinions on airlines and long flights.
