Back from an Activity-Packed Holiday
We just completed an adventurous vacation in Europe! The trip was 10 days long and allowed us to spend time in 3 different countries. Our main destination was the Netherlands, and the trip included a day trip to Belgium and a 3-day visit to Italy.
The inspiration behind this trip was the tulip fields in the Netherlands and the famous flower garden, Keukenhof. When we found a flight deal to Amsterdam during tulip season, we knew this was our chance to turn our dream into reality. The opportunity to try fresh stroopwafels and Dutch cheeses made a visit to the Netherlands sound like the perfect adventure.
Our trip was much busier than our previous visit to Europe. On our first trip, we would tour during the day and be back at our hotel by evening. On this trip, we were so excited that we walked all through the evening and stayed out late. I completely thought we would get more time to relax, but we were just like, “let’s keep checking this place out”! The great location of the hotel made it easier to be out late, but I also think we did better with the time change this time around and were in better shape than our prior trip.
Top Highlights from the trip:
- Keukenhof
- Amsterdam
- Zaanse Schans
- Gouda
- Bruges
- Pompeii
- Naples
If I had to narrow it down to the top three highlights, it would be Keukenhof, Amsterdam, and Pompeii, with Bruges as the close runner-up. These places made the trip! I loved Amsterdam. I felt like It was a city I could actually picture myself living and working in at least for a while. It felt safe and it was easy to get around. I think it might be my favorite city I’ve visited in Europe.
Stay tuned for new posts. Topics I would like to cover include:
- Flying British Airways
- What to Expect, Keukenhof
- Room Review, Kimpton De Witt Amsterdam
- A Day touring Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii
- What to Expect, Zaanse Schans
- How to Buy Train Tickets in Italy
- Visiting the Gouda Cheese Market
- A Day in Bruges Belgium
I’ve learned from this trip that I’ve really just touched the surface of so many wonderful places and that Reed and I have grown a lot since we began traveling together. Spending time in a different country makes me appreciate what I have at home, but this trip especially inspired me to want to see more of Europe. We had a layover at Heathrow, which sparked my interests in planning a visit to London.
I’m excited to share new and helpful information from our trip and continue to earn miles and rewards to use for the next trip!
