If you’re looking to experience fine dining nestled along the cliffs of the Amalfi Coast, Hostaria di Bacco is an excellent choice. You can taste wines that are grown right next door at the Marisa Cuomo winery and take a tour of the vineyard. Getting to Furore

I am very grateful to have found Hostaria di Bacco in the small town of Furore. My husband and I traveled to Amalfi for only a couple of days, and we had rainy weather and rough seas the entire time. I was worried that we would not be able to make our reservation and we missed our reservation by at least an hour. If you have the opportunity, you can stay at the hotel connected to the restaurant instead of trying to travel in.

Best Places to Eat in Amalfi

This colorful structure was located in the town of Ravello on our route into Furore.

We stayed in the town of Salerno, which is only about 22 miles from Furore. With the rainy weather, the ferries were not running and drivers were not interested in taking us to Amalfi. We ended up waiting for a bus to Amalfi and finding a driver in Amalfi that took us to Furore. It took about 4 hours to get to Bacco from Salerno, which is crazy! It was a difficult day and the staff at Marisa Cuomo were so accommodating to allow us to dine in the restaurant. They were even willing to still show us the vineyards, although we chose not to do this because of the rain.

Dining Experience

Eating at Bacco was wonderful. It was a foggy day, but the restaurant was located along the cliffs and had beautiful views of the sea. The meal started with bread and olive oil. I’m not sure how olive is so different in Italy vs. the US, but I really wish I could have real Italian olive oil all the time. It was delicious!

Best Restaurants in Amalfi

The first course of appetizers included tuna in three different varieties. We tried our first white wine and the waiter explained that the grapes were from a neighboring town and described the differences in the soil between the vineyards along the Amalfi coast. The wines were nicer than anything I’d tried before. I am in no way a wine expert, but I am hoping to get my hands on a bottle of Furore Bianco Fiorduva in my future.

The next course was a small dish with potatoes and olives. The final course for us was some fresh pasta with a red meat sauce. My husband and I are not fans of oysters, so we decided to go for the pasta and it was incredible. If you do like seafood, I recommend pre-ordering a seafood dish as this is their specialty. We were so impressed with our meal at Bacco.

Requesting a Reservation

You can request a reservation through the Marisa Cuomo website. After I sent a request, I was contacted through email with information and pricing. I was also provided with menu options and a booking form to fill out to confirm our selections.  The menu choices included 3 wine tastings and 5 courses that included dessert. The price per person ranged from 75-85 Euros, but this pricing is only an estimate and likely to change. The tour and tasting included a tour of the vineyard first and then dining at Bacco.

Here are some of the menus available at the restaurant.

Experience Furore Food and Wine

Although my husband and I had a difficult travel day with numerous delays from weather, eating and Bacco left us feeling thankful for our time in Furore. After dinner, we spent some time traversing the narrow trails along the coast to get to the bus stop. The bus took us to Amalfi where we toured the town before heading back to Salerno. If you are looking for a wine tasting, I definitely recommend the tasting and tour offered through Marisa Cuomo. Being surrounded by the sea and trying some of the best wines in Italy was an experience I won’t forget!

We loved seeing the Amalfi Cathedral during our short time in Amalfi.
