Happy New Year! 2019 is already looking like we’re in for an exciting year. Reed and I are happy to share that we will be moving again, but this time it won’t be across state lines. We’ve been looking into homebuilding and have signed a contract to build a house in Colorado!

This is a zoomed photo taken from the front of our new neighborhood. It will be nice to feel a little bit closer to Denver in the new neighborhood compared our current home.

After lots of discussions and weighing our options for future home ownership, we found a great upcoming neighborhood in the suburbs of Denver. We love the location of our rental house in Lafayette, but we found that we can have a brand new home at a more affordable price if we move to the neighboring town of Arvada.  Living in Arvada will also put us closer to the mountains, which we’ve been driving to almost every weekend since we moved to Colorado.

Bear enjoyed a trip to the lot where our house will be built.

The lot is just a dirt plot with weeds on it right now, but by the end of 2019, we will be moved into our new home! I’m excited to be able to share the homebuilding process with you and share the positives and negatives that we experience along the way. I’ve read that building a house can be one of the most stressful things a couple goes through, which sounds silly to me, so I’m interested to see how the process goes for us.

Reed is standing near what will become the end of the backyard. We’re looking forward to having more space for Bear to run around.

The new home site is not that far away from our rental house, so Reed and I will be able to make frequent visits to the property. We have been provided with a tentative schedule and are anticipating that the home will be completed around September-October. The builder asked us to make all of the selections for the home prior to signing the contract. It was neat to be able to pick out interior features like flooring and cabinets!

Please stay tuned… I’ll be posting more on this in the coming months.
